Prof. Weidong Zhu

Weidong Zhu is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on dynamics, vibration, control, applied mechanics, structural health monitoring, and wind energy, covering vibration stability of distributed structural systems, finite element modeling, modal testing, structural damage detection, and innovative transmission technologies. Dr. Zhu is an ASME Fellow, recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and Maryland Innovator of the Year Award, and served as a Visiting ChangJiang Scholar Chair Professor. He has published extensively in top journals and received numerous keynote invitations at international conferences.
